Citizens who purposefully buy a car for primarily urban use, as a rule, have high demands on the brand – and, accordingly, on the level of comfort and driving characteristics. Therefore, this time we selected more or less expensive models, moreover, from those that are offered in official dealer networks in Ukraine.
Let us note that the concept “for the city” is largely arbitrary – these cars are without reservation suitable for long road trips and for outings on picnics. The only place where they should not be driven is dirt roads with difficult conditions, that is, with mud, deep snow, ruts, gullies, stones and fallen trees.
Mazda CX-30
A very charismatic car with a dynamic design and a richly equipped interior has recently undergone a planned update. It still has the same engine, but also an interesting one: it is a classic full-displacement naturally aspirated petrol engine, 2.0 liter, sporty, high-speed, with a power of 150 hp (at 6,000 rpm). An engine with good traction at speed (torque of 213 Nm) plus a well-tuned chassis – and as a result, the car is driven with excitement at speed. Most trims have 4×4 drive, and in any case the transmission will be automatic. Cars produced in 2023 can now be purchased for UAH 1,116,000.
Mercedes-Benz GLA
A serious, if not classic, car with all the necessary attributes of a premium class. The line of 6 engines is probably one of the richest in our company. There are both gasoline and diesel engines, as well as micro-hybrid versions with auxiliary electric drive from a 48-volt system. The smallest engine has 116 hp, the most powerful, in the AMG version, has 306 hp. (5.2 seconds to the first hundred, by the way!). You can choose an all-wheel drive version with the proprietary 4Matic transmission. The smallest crossover from Mercedes-Benz costs at least 1,887,141 UAH.
Mini Countryman
A holiday car with British roots and German technology, and even designed to storm curbs – that’s what the Mini Countryman is. But his strong point is, first and foremost, highways. It seems that Ukrainian visitors to dealership showrooms will soon have a rare opportunity to choose between the Mini Countryman of two generations – the second (2017 – 2023) and the third (from November 2023), which will soon go on sale. Among other classmates, this model stands out in the number of design options – for example, the second generation has ten of them, and it seems that the main thing that distinguishes them from each other is the dynamics. And if the calmest of the “Countrymen” accelerates to 100 km/h in 12.0 seconds, then the most agile – in just 5.1 seconds. The price tag for the model starts from 1280398 UAH.
Lexus NX
A luxury car, the manufacturer of which for some reason prioritizes its efficiency and environmental friendliness. All engines of the little Lexus are gasoline, including naturally aspirated (173, 190 and 207 hp) and supercharged (279 hp). Plus, there are options with an optional micro-hybrid drive, in which a 48-volt electric motor helps the crossover accelerate brightly in 7.0 seconds to 100 km/h. Wheel drive is available both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Prices for Lexus NX in Ukraine start from UAH 1.858 million.
Audi Q3
Another premium car with rich standard equipment and a large list of additional equipment. Two engines are offered, both are supercharged gasoline TFSI type, or a modest displacement of 1.4 liters and a power of 150 hp, or a more venerable 2.0-liter with 180 hp. A micro-hybrid electric drive helps gasoline horses accelerate effectively. Quattro permanent all-wheel drive is available only on Q3 trims with a larger engine. But the gearboxes, of course, are all automatic, and in all cases they are preselective with two clutches. A brand new Audi Q3 costs no less than UAH 1,334,249.
In short
Honestly, this is a case where you even feel a little sorry for a person with a couple of millions in his pocket. And luxurious, and glamorous, and youth, and classic, and almost a racing car into the bargain – how to choose from all this? Moreover, the ideas of economy and environmental friendliness have not been forgotten… But seriously, you can actually be happy for those who have such a choice. And I wish the manufacturers of more affordable cars to learn to build such a variety of styles and technical capabilities as in this high segment.
