Fans in Gliwice watched a very interesting match, which began with singing three verses of the Dąbrowski Mazurka in connection with the upcoming Independence Day.
The engine quickly took over
The guests started the match better and scored a goal in the eighth minute. The engine carried out a quick action. Sergi Samper passed to Bartosz Wolski, who found Samuel Mraz with a great long play. In a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, the Slovak striker passed Frantisek Plach, but lost his balance slightly. Despite this, from a rather difficult position he put the ball into the goal, right next to Miguel Munoz who was trying to save the situation.
Piast couldn’t answer for a long time. Moreover, in the 24th minute the hosts could have conceded a second goal. Maciej Rosołek’s behavior was terrible, he played the action in such a way that… he passed the ball backwards straight to the opponent. The Lublin team quickly played a counterattack, culminating in Christopher Simon’s shot from outside the penalty area.
After the Senegalese hit, the ball stopped at the post. Wolski scored, but only hit the side net. Mateusz Stolarski’s players had something to regret.
Especially since Piast equalized in the 37th minute, although there was no sign of it. After a corner kick, there was a lot of confusion in the visitors’ penalty area, and Miłosz Szczepański was the smartest one. Piast’s midfielder was lying on the pitch, but he reached the ball and beat Kacper Rosa with a shot from five meters.
Motor’s response was immediate. Just a minute later, Mraz scored his second goal! The Slovak made a good shot after a pass from Piotr Ceglarz.
It was a goal that gave the newcomer the lead until the break, although Rosołek could have equalized at the end of the first half. The former Legia Warszawa player, however, missed the target.
Samuel Mraz ensured the victory for the guests
There was also a lot going on after the break. However, we had to wait a while for good opportunities to change the result. In the 60th minute, Rosołek had another chance to equalize, this time with a header.
A very close goal for Aleksandar Vukovic’s players was seven minutes later. Jakub Czerwiński shot a dangerous header, but Rosa showed off his reflexes and parried the ball after the Piast captain’s shot.
The substitute gave the hosts the desired equalizer. In the 70th minute, Fabian Piasecki successfully headed the ball after Szczepański’s throw-in. This time, Rosa was unable to return the ball.
Just like in the first half, Motor responded very quickly and took the lead again. Fifteen minutes before the end of regular game time, Mraz completed his hat-trick! This time the assist was provided by Arkadiusz Najemski, who, being in the slide, reached the ball after Kaan Caliskaner’s throw-in and managed to play it back to the Slovak.
Piast tried to equalize for the third time. However, the attacks from Gliwice were not particularly dangerous and did not result in attempted shots. Four added minutes didn’t help either.
Motor won the second consecutive match, which allowed the newcomer to advance to seventh place in the league table. Their Friday rival is classified just behind the Lublin team.
