Top Innovations from Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas 2024

What do the video game Tetris, the CD player and the HD television have in common? All three were once introduced to the general public for the first time during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the largest technology fair in the world. Once again this year you will find thousands of novelties, we have already spotted these striking ones on site.

The self-driving and rocking children’s carriage (3,000 euros)

Don’t just say ‘pram’ to Glüxkind’s. Anyone who has ever had to push such a thing up a mountain knows that it takes quite a bit of effort. This model works like an electric bicycle with pedal assistance. If you push, the Glüxkind easily drives itself by providing power with an electric motor.

It tries to estimate your ‘direction of travel’ with AI, says the company itself. “We have pushing assistance. Do you cycle with an electric bicycle? That’s what it looks like. The harder you push the better it supports you,” says Jeffrey To.

The fact that the children’s carriage is motorized has the nice extra that you can activate a slow ‘forward and backward’ movement at the touch of a button that rocks your baby a little. Our tested example was also equipped with lighting so that you stand out when you ‘drive’ along the public road. All that beauty costs 3,000 euros.

Fastest grill in the world (3,200 euros)

Preparing a tender piece of meat is an art that not everyone masters. Moreover, it can take quite some time. SEERGRILLS is therefore presenting a grill at CES that uses artificial intelligence and a unique system with all kinds of heating elements to solve all that for you: put a piece of steak in the thing, indicate that on a touch screen and make the Perfecta in less than 2 minutes (or so the manufacturer promises us) a delicious piece of meat.

“The NeuralFire technology is a fusion of the art and science of cooking with very advanced hardware and software,” says Suraj Sudera in a long conversation in which he tries to convince us that 3,200 is really not too much to ask: “You have to know that you also save a lot of time with our technology, and time also costs money. So what is expensive?”

Mouth mask against eavesdropping (399 euros)

Whether you are a business woman, work for the army or State Security: the Skyted comes in handy. You place the device over your mouth as if it were a face mask, and suddenly no one can hear what you say. Except of course your conversation partner on the other end of the line or, in the case of soldiers, the walkie talkie. The French military has already purchased the device and Skyted worked with the French space agency to develop it. A ‘wired’ version costs 399 euros, if you want to go for a wireless version you have to pay 599 euros.

Smart mat for sick pets

The Carepet is aimed at owners of four-legged friends who like to keep their best friend healthy. Sometimes a dog has complaints that you as an owner are not immediately aware of. Such as breathing problems or cardiac arrhythmias. The Carepet monitors this while Blacky sleeps on the mat, sends the data to your smartphone and possibly also to the vet if something is wrong.

Remote Control Search App (Free)

Visually impaired and blind people have some specific inconveniences. For example, they have difficulty finding objects that someone else moves in the house; if they are not simply put back in their place, they cannot simply look around a room. The Oorion app can then help: it uses the smartphone camera to search for, for example, the television remote control and guides the user to where it is located.
