Top Holiday Songs Dominate Latvian Music Charts at the End of the Year

The children’s group “Knīpas un Kauķi” reached the top of the Latvian singles chart at the end of the year with the song “Piparkūkas danco”. The second most listened to song is “Believing, loving and waiting” by Helvia Stengrewitz and Siegfried Muktupável, which is both a holiday and a “Revival” song. On the other hand, the group “bet bet” with the song “Nakts” is in third place. In total, seven of the top ten songs of domestic singles are in the Christmas mood.

Christmas music is also at the top of the Latvian album chart – the most listened to selection is “Christmas Selection: Winter Tales”, recorded by various performers. In second place follows the group “Instrumenti” with the album “Priecīgus” released last December, while the album “Super” of the leaders “Singapore Satin” takes third place this time. The 2005 album “Ticu un viss” by the vocal group “Cosmos” graced the top as a novelty, it is the eighth.
