The actor demands large sums in compensation

Due to a photo in one of the scenes of “Top Gun: Maverick”, the actor Barry Tubb is suing the movie giant Paramount for showing him in the movie without his consent.

Now Paramount has ended up in legal storm due to a photo of Barry Tubbwho plays Wolfman in the original Top Gun-film, which was used without the actor’s permission in the hit film Top Gun: Maverick (2022). According to Entertainment Weekly claims Tubb that the picture is a manipulated version of what was originally behind-the-scenes material.

Barry Tubb tells the court that he did not give Paramount their permission to use images of him and is therefore suing them for at least $75,000, according to one 33 page long document published by his lawyers. He believes that he is entitled to the money because he appeared in “key scenes” in Top Gun: Maverick without his consent and that he shall therefore be entitled to financial compensation.

Not the first time that Top Gun: Maverick is in bad weather

Production company Paramount has also been under fire in the past, due to allegations of plagiarizing content from it California Magazine-article from 1983 that inspired the first one Top Gun– the film, writer ScreenRant. In conjunction with Top Gun: Maverick was released in 2022, the family of the author of the article sued Paramount for copyright infringement. However, a trial never happened because the director Joseph Kosinski insisted that the alleged plagiarism was based on his own life experiences and not the article.

Whether this will affect the upcoming Top Gun 3 is hard to say, but considering the success that before Top Gunfilms, it is highly unlikely that this would prevent the production of another sequel in the series.
