CINEMA – This is what is called a triumphal arrival! Tom Cruise made a very strong impression, this Wednesday, May 4, at the world premiere of the highly anticipated Top Gun Maverick. The actor landed in a helicopter before joining the rest of the film’s cast, as you can see in our video at the top of the article.
The one who plays fighter pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell had decided to mark the occasion when this screening was organized on an unusual place: the aircraft carrier USS Midway, moored in San Diego (California). A nice nod to the US Navy, featured in the film.
“Tom, I could have ordered you an Uber!”
“Tom, I could have ordered you an Uber, it would have been much easier. But you had to show up,” quipped MTV News host Josh Horowitz, who was waiting for him when he got off the helicopter. “It would have been too simple,” replied the 59-year-old actor, who finds himself with Top Gun Maverick this cult role of fighter pilot that he had played in 1986 in the first opus.

If Tom Cruise has had his helicopter pilot’s license since 1994, he was not the one who was at the helm of the aircraft that landed on the aircraft carrier on Wednesday.
Alongside Tom Cruise, several cast members were present, including Jennifer Connelly (Requiem for a Dream, Snowpiercer), Jon Hamm (Mad Men, Baby Driver) and Miles Teller (Whiplash, War Dogs) among others.
Top Gun: Maverick will premiere on May 18 at the 75th Cannes Film Festival. A date that will mark the return of Tom Cruise to the Croisette, 30 years after his last climb for the film Distant Horizons by Ron Howards. The film will then be screened in French cinemas from May 25.
