Top Favorites and Outsiders in The Transat Race to New York – Charlie Dallin Leads the Pack

After leaving the pontoons late in the morning on Sunday 28 April, it was at 1:30pm that the skippers crossed the starting line of this legendary transoceanic race through the north face.

Heading now to New York where the favorites should arrive between May 7th and May 9th. Among them Charlie Dallin (Macif) who was the first to cross the line in the Vendée Globe (and finished second)? Along with it, two sailors prefer: Jeremy Beyou (Charles) et John Richomme (IMOCA Paprec Arkéa).

There is no shortage of outsiders: Nicolas Lunvenalways in good standing since coming to Holcim-PRB, Sebastien Simon (Dubreuil Group) which has shown an extraordinary capacity for resistance, Justine Mettraux (SNEF Teamwork Team), bold in the Transat Jacques Vabre and equipped with new foils, Samantha Daviesalso used to the ‘top 10’ or even Boris Hermann (Malice – Seaexplorer).

The 15th edition of The Transat, the world’s oldest single-handed offshore race, takes place every four years but did not take place in 2020 due to Covid. This year, she is a certificate for the Vendee Universe.
In the past it has been crowned the most won by Eric Tabarly twice in 1964 and 1976, but also Alain Colas in 1972, Philippe Poupon (1988), Loïck Peyron three times (1992, 1996, 2008), Francis Joyon (2000), Michel Desjoyeaux (2004) and François Gabart (2016).
