When looking for a car, many Russians rely on online reviews and advice from friends. Based on a study conducted by experts from Rosgosstrakh and Otkritie Bank, the final choice often depends on criteria such as price, brand and car class.
The survey showed that 48% of motorists in Russia would prefer to independently analyze technical data and make a choice based on their own opinion. However, the majority (52%) tend to be guided by online comments and the opinions of loved ones.
Among the main factors of choice are: cost (44%), brand or country of production (37%), as well as the class and characteristics of the car (27%). Important parameters are also in engine power (26%), drive type (20%) and gearbox (18%). Less important are engine size (15%), body color (12%), safety level (8%) and the presence of additional options (7%).
A year ago, car enthusiasts also identified price as the main criterion in buying a new car and technical condition when choosing a used car. Today, for young people under 30 years of age, the appearance and convenience of a new car are more important, and the older buying generation pays attention to fuel consumption and the class of the car.
Men prefer reliability, and women often pay attention to the type of gearbox.
Among those surveyed, 36% have a car that costs less than 1 million rubles. Another 31% have cars worth from 1 to 2.5 million rubles, 25% – from 2.5 to 5 million rubles, and 8% – more than 5 million rubles.
