As the English newspaper The Times reports, such plans are currently being hotly debated in the Arab kingdom.
Without going into specific names, the newspaper names top referees from England as well as referees who were on duty during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Saudi league wants to poach all of the top referees from Europe; initial contacts have already been made.
The first decisions are expected in the next six to twelve months.
Given the huge sums that the league spends on top stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema, it can be assumed that the referees will also be lured with dream salaries.
Not only Saudis are already refereeing in the league, but also referees from New Zealand, Argentina and Paraguay.
