The popularity of electric cars among drivers is growing every year, and the supply is also growing according to the demand – more and more new models are being launched, and at the same time the market of used electric cars is gaining more relevance.
Electric car charging network Eleport representatives emphasize that there is a wide range of electric cars available on the market, from which several models can be distinguished, but when choosing the most suitable car, it is important to understand what the driver’s driving habits are and which price category is the most suitable.
The market of new electric cars – a wide selection in different price categories
There is a wide range of electric car models available on the market, and it continues to grow every year. Undeniably, a new electric car costs more than a used car, and the new car market offers more choices, but there are models that stand out and offer the best value for money.
It may seem too predictable, but it must be said that Tesla Model Y and Model 3 offers the best price against the current offer. Not in vain Model Y is the best-selling car among all cars in Europe.

Looking at costs, it is also worth highlighting electric cars from other manufacturers in different price categories. In order to switch from a combustion engine car to an electric car with the smallest possible changes in the user experience, Eleport experts recommend choosing BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz models.
It’s also surprisingly good Mercedes-Benz EQA and EQB models. as well as Audi Q8 e-tron, Porsche Taycan and BMW iX will definitely not disappoint brand lovers. On the other hand, in the category of lower prices, the best electric cars should be singled out Hyundai Kona and Nissan Leaf – the owners of these cars are very satisfied with their choice.

The car market is saturated with electric cars in various price categories, while if you are interested in buying a car equipped with more than five seats, the range of offers is limited. Eleport experts have observed that the choice for such vehicles is very small – they offer it Mercedes-Benz EQB, Opel Vivaro e-Combi, Peugoet e-Rifter and some other models.
An alternative at a friendlier price – used electric cars
Although buying an electric car has several benefits, often the cost of buying a car is one of the factors that slows down the transition from an internal combustion engine car to an electric car. Considering that new models are quite expensive, more and more attention is paid to the used electric car market. Eleport’s observations show that the used electric car market in Latvia is not yet mature enough, although it is gradually developing and there are already cars in the price category – up to 5,000 euros. It is recommended to look for a wider offer of used electric cars in the markets of countries where the number of electric cars has historically been higher, for example in Norway or Germany. Also in the used electric car market there are various trends and models that are in particular demand.
The most common models are Nissan Leaf and Renault Zoe. Both models have their own characteristics, such as Zoe attention should be paid to whether the battery is included in the price or is rented from Renault, which will affect the final cost of the car. One of the models that is in great demand in the used electric car market is Hyundai Ioniq due to its efficiency and good charging properties. Used ones are also in great demand Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.

To avoid disappointment when buying a used car, Eleport recommends checking the performance of the battery with the help of appropriate applications (for example Nissan Leaf in case – LeafSpy) and connect to the car system with the OBD2 tool to find out the batteries health state of affairs (SoH) and check if it is possible to start car charging.
Before buying an electric car, it pays to do some in-depth research
As the company emphasizes Eleport, before making a choice in favor of a specific electric car, you should understand what the specific model can provide. For example, it is not uncommon for drivers to express dissatisfaction with the charging speed, even though the particular model is not capable of receiving enough power.
For those who are interested in buying the best possible electric car for the available budget, it is important to pay attention not only to the information available in the offer, but also to the charging curve. For instance, Let’s EV6 able to charge with 233kW of power, but only for a short time. Up to 50% charge, the machine will charge at over 200kW in ideal conditions, but then at 80% the power will drop to 150kW and then rapidly to 50kW. So, even under ideal conditions, this machine will not be able to take the advertised maximum power at a high charge level.

Other aspects of choosing a particular model are similar to choosing an internal combustion car. In addition, it is important to emphasize that there are myths about the electric car, for example, that the batteries will not last long enough, although statistics show that the batteries will last longer than the car itself. Likewise, the current question about electric cars in winter – although consumption increases in cold weather, electric cars are still more profitable than internal combustion cars.
