1 Phew Expo #11 wants to dream hard

The 11th edition of the street-art event colors the Gambetta and Richelieu districts with nine new monumental frescoes. The inauguration takes place on Saturday, September 9. Rue Enclos-Rey will be closed to traffic for artistic performances, music, the opening of the exhibition at the Galerie du Spot. The celebration then continues with concerts, visits and workshops until September 30.

2 New management at the Nîmes theater

A new director Amélie Casasole takes over the management of the Nîmes theatre. It will present its first season to the public on Wednesday, September 20, at 7 p.m. Before the summer, she communicated on the creation of a new highlight devoted to young audiences during the autumn holidays. To be discovered in particular, “Le Petit B” by choreographer Marion Muzac, new associate artist, on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 October in co-hosting with Périscope and “Je suis tous les dieux” by Marion Carriau inspired by Indian dance on Friday October 27.

3 The Nîmes metropolis jazz festival

For its 17th edition, the Nîmes Métropole Jazz Festival continues its roaming through the villages of the agglomeration and unveiled a program focused on mixed music, especially Cuban… Among the highlights, opening on Friday, September 22 with Keziah Jones at Paloma in Nîmes, the singer and violinist Yilian Cañizares on Saturday September 23 in Saint-Gervasy, the Cuban pianist Omar Sosa on Friday September 29 at Marguerittes, the flamenco-jazz creation of Nîmes Roé on Saturday October 7 in Rodilhan, the Cuban maestro Chucho Valdés on Friday October 13 at the University of Nîmes or the pianist and singer Robert Fonseca for the closing evening on Saturday October 21 at La Calmette.

4 A new Uzès dance festival

New direction also at the Uzès Danse festival. After the great success of its spring edition, Emilie Peluchon announced that the choreographic development center would offer a second highlight of its season with a festival aimed at families and young audiences during the autumn holidays.

5 Viallat exhibition at Carré d’art

Internationally recognized painter, Claude Viallat was born in Nîmes, he has worked there for 40 years. The city pays homage to him with a major exhibition at Carré d’art, bringing together many recent works, paintings of course, but also assemblages. The presentation should be overflowing and leave the showrooms to play with the volumes of the Norman Foster building, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
