Top-class festival program and a Haydn festival with Adam Fischer to kick off the 2024/25 season
Graz (OTS/LCG) – Intendant Michael Nemeth presented the anniversary program of the 210th season of the Graz Music Association. At the beginning of the season offers Adam Fischer exclusively in Graz at the podium of his Danish Chamber Orchestra once again a celebration for Joseph Haydn. From September 23rd to 26th, 2024, a top-class Haydn program will be performed, with the oratorio “The Seasons” as its highlight. This theme runs programmatically throughout the entire season.
Anniversary concert with Riccardo Muti, Elīna Garanča and Oksana Lyniv
Give festival concerts for the anniversary Riccardo Muti with the Vienna Philharmonic (Bruckner 7), Elina Garanca with Malcolm Martineau as well as Oksana Lyniv at the podium of the Youth Orchestra Alpe Adria with members of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine as well as prizewinners of the new music association singing competition “Young Voices Alpe Adria” (Concert for Youth and Peace).
Debuts, stars and rarities in the orchestra subscription
Jakub Hrůša and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra interpret Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody” on a theme by Paganini Daniil Trifonov and Janáček’s “Taras Bulba”. The Graz Philharmonic Orchestra presents works from baroque to modern on ten concert evenings. The chief conductor is at the podium Vassilis Christopoulos (including Schönberg’s Five Orchestral Pieces) and Emmanuel Cheknavorian (including Mahler’s 1st Symphony). The Latvian conductor is celebrating her music club debut Kristina Poska with Nielsen’s 4th Symphony and Sibelius’ Violin Concerto Sergey Khachatryan as a soloist. Sebastian Weigle invites you with Goldmark’s “In Spring” and Richard Strauss‘ Symphonic poem “From Italy” to the South. Other guests are Anton Gerzenberg, Kian Soltani with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra Patrick Hahn and Thomas Quasthoffwho is the speaker of the symphonic rarity “Genesis Suite” (symphony orchestra and choir of the Graz University of Art, John Axelrod) is celebrating its 50th stage anniversary. Sir András Schiff and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment will also perform Schumann’s Piano Concerto and excerpts from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
New: Classic at 6
The popular Philharmonic Soirées of the Graz Philharmonic (this time under the direction of Vassilis Christopoulos, John Brown and Andreas Ottensamer) start at 6 p.m. (new!) in the chamber music hall and continue in the foyer with a jazz lounge (KUG jazz ensembles). Thematically, each soirée is themed around the seasons with works from Vivaldi to film music.
Small format and big emotion in a chamber music subscription
A chamber ensemble all around Maddalena del Gobbo invites you to the royal court of the Eszterházys, L’Arpeggiata Christina Pluhar with Philippe Jaroussky leads to the French court of the 17th century. Other guests include The Clarinet Trio Anthology, the Trio Orelon, Pavel Haas Quartet and the Ensemble Wien. Exceptional: Multi-Instrumentalist presents on December 8, 2024 Franz Posch a Christmas concert with Trombone Attraction and Friedrich Kleinhapl.
Soloist concert cycle: Highest virtuosity with piano music and brass
The soloist concert cycle is by Igor Levit opened, which included Beethoven’s 7th Symphony Franz Liszts Edit presented. Young Voices Alpe Adria 2024: New singing competition of the music association
For the first time, the Graz Music Association is organizing the first vocal competition for young singing talents, Young Voices Alpe Adria, from August 26th to 30th, 2024. Registrations for this are possible from April 3, 2024.
Music club plus! Talent promotion and rehearsal visits
Public rehearsals by the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra (rehearsal:listen), introductions or musical aperitifs (short concerts before subscription concerts with KUG talents) complement the extensive program. In addition, on the occasion of the 150th birthday of Arnold Schoenberg An exhibition was organized on four dates in the foyer of the Musikverein in cooperation with the Arnold Schoenberg Center Vienna.
