In “Top Chef”, Diego Amary wins his first victory in yellow in an episode with no last chance or elimination

TELEVISION – In exceptional situation, exceptional program. And for the first time since the start of this 11th season of “Top chef“, This episode did not end with the faint hope. From this Wednesday, April 8, M6 has decided to reduce the episodes of its flagship cooking program. Disturbed by the epidemic of coronavirus, the emissions “The Voice” or “Koh Lanta” have already done the same.

An obligation for the chain as explained by Jérémy Guyot, director of communication for the M6 group, at HuffPost: “We are having trouble at the moment building the program. We have fewer editors, fewer editing studios, the directors are also confined so for voice overs it’s complicated. It takes longer to edit an entire episode. ”

This choice allows M6 to continue broadcasting the program rather than deprogramming it. “The choice that has really been made is to try everything for everything, to really go to the end of the season and not to cut the broadcast. As much for the viewers as for the candidates. ” From now on, the broadcasts will last 1h45 instead of the initial 2h10, to end before 23h.

With this little change, aficionados of “Top Chef” will be able to enjoy a few more episodes. “We know that for the next two to three weeks, we have shorter episodes. We would like afterwards to be able to provide episodes of normal duration ”, he indicates to HuffPost.

This Wednesday, April 8 episode therefore offered two events instead of three: that of chef Jacques Maximim and that of chefs Simone Zanoni and Alan Taudon. The opportunity to take a look at the highlights of this episode and give you a glimpse of what to expect next week.

A first yellow victory for Diego

For this new episode of “Top chef”, The candidates clashed to seduce chef Jacques Maximim, the best worker in France and inventor of rim training. The latter imposed a test on the pigeon, but with an additional difficulty: after having worked in the brigade, each candidate must propose his own training. A task not that simple when faced with the chef’s requirement. “If they’re not creative, it’s not worth doing‘ Top Chef ’,” he said in his portrait. It was on the visual that the latter made a first selection.

Among the blues, Martin managed to select himself with a presentation worthy of a palace dish. However, the lack of spices and power in his oriental pigeon failed to seduce the chef. On the side of the red brigade and despite the audacity proposed by David, Mallory was selected. His dish with the perfect blend, thanks to its wine lees sauce, however, did not allow him to win the event.

The only representative of the yellow brigade, Diego teamed up with the violet brigade of Paul Pairet. His audacity convinced chef Jacques Maximim. With a contemporary and modern look that immediately appealed, the flavors of his dish demonstrated the temperament of the young 22-year-old chef. It is therefore his first qualification under the color yellow, which offers him a place in the ninth week of the competition.

Versailles puts pasta in the spotlight

For this second test, the candidates had an appointment at Versailles with star chefs Simone Zanoni and Alan Taudon who imposed duels on the theme of pasta. Pasta with mushrooms, four cheeses or spinach ricotta; There was something for everyone. The duels were composed as follows: Mallory against Gratien, Martin against Mory, and David against Adrien.

It was an Adrien in small form who embarked on the test. Despite Chef Pairet’s motivations, nothing was done and his spinach ricotta pasta did not allow him to qualify. It was therefore David and his gnudi surrounded in spinach leaves who received the congratulations of the two chefs.

On the side of Gratien and Mallory, the young Belgian pulled out of the game with four-cheese tortellini. A qualification that delighted its head Hélène Darroze wearing the red bandana around the neck, given by her two candidates at the start of the show.

In the duel Mory and Martin, audacity was in the spotlight in their respective preparations. The two candidates proposed original dishes which seduced the chefs. The choice was therefore complicated, and it was Martin with his vegetable ravioli of mushrooms who won this duel, sending Mory as a last chance.

Former returning candidates

With the episodes shortened, the last chance test will take place at the start of the next bonus broadcast on Wednesday 15 April. And this test will not be as usual since three former candidates – Justine Piluso, Nastasia Lyard and Jean-Philippe Berens – will try to return to the kitchens of “Top Chef”. For that, they will have to win against Mory, Adrien and Gratien.
