Top Bundesliga Results: Leverkusen Wins at Wolfsburg, Stuttgart Overtakes Dortmund, and More

Bayer Leverkusen remains top of the Bundesliga table after the eighth matchday. Coach Xabi Alonso’s team won 2-1 (1-1) at VfL Wolfsburg and took back top spot from Borussia Dortmund.

BVB, who were victorious on Friday, were overtaken again by VfB Stuttgart after their 3-0 (1-0) win at 1. FC Union Berlin. VfB top scorer Serhou Guirassy had to be substituted injured. Record champions FC Bayern will play fourth in the table at FSV Mainz 05 in the evening (6.30 p.m./Sky).

VfL took the lead in Freiburg through Gonçalo Paciência (15th). Ritsu Dōan (26th) equalized in the first half. Because Bernardo touched the ball with his arm during a defensive action in the penalty area, referee Tobias Reichel awarded a penalty against Bochum. Vincenzo Grifo (45th + 2) converted.
