Top athletes as guests: Fischer Sports Show in the Weberzeile

Fischer CEO Franz Föttinger, Weberzeile manager Christoph Vormair and ski stars Andreas Goldberger, Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Daniel Hemetsberger opened the anniversary exhibition on 15 October. This can be seen until October 31.

A KING IN THE BIRCH FOREST. “The winter sports enthusiasts of Upper Austria have a special connection with the Fischer company. The fact that we have a globally successful ski company here in the Lowlands is something special and it makes me proud,” ski jumping legend Andreas Goldberger is interested in the Ried company. Like Fischer himself, Waldzell is one of Innviertel’s winter sports figures. “But Fischer wasn’t just part of my equipment when I was active: I still enjoy being on the slopes. “The company really offers everything you need,” says Goldi. What he associates with Fischer is “family work at the highest level”.

“Business must adapt to change”

Together with Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Daniel Hemetsberger, Andreas Goldberger was one of the guests of honor at the opening of the Fischer Sports exhibition in Weberzeile. The company celebrates 100 years this year. “We are very proud to reach this milestone in our company’s history,” said Franz Föttinger, Managing Director of Fischer Sports. The winter sports market itself is at a challenging stage at the moment:

“As winters get less snowy, of course the market won’t go up as much and maybe it will go down a bit. But, this is a long-term thing that the industry has to accept to him.”

In addition to the headquarters in Ried, Fischer also has a large production site in Ukraine. In the World Cup, Fischer is a bank, especially in the Nordic competitions. “Our engineers wrote the current rules for ski jumping back then.”

For the coming season, a new cross-country skate ski will be coming on the market that will be especially suitable for beginners. “Ski boots with the BOA twist lock system are also becoming more fashionable. The racers are not quite sure yet, but maybe it will have an effect,” laughs Föttinger as he looks at Daniel Hemetsberger.

Hemetsberger: “The first victory at the World Cup is essential”

The Upper Austrian downhill skier also relies on Innviertel skis and is looking forward to the new season: “My knee has held up well in the preparation so far. I have a great partnership with Fischer, I notice great progress every year.” This year, of course, his goal is the home World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, but he doesn’t think so yet. “I’m still fighting for my first World Cup victory. I would definitely have the stuff. You have to take the World Cup as it comes. In any case, it will be a very good event. I hope there will be a good atmosphere,” said Hemetsberger.

Seifriedsberger wants to “crack the 200”

Jacqueline Seifriedsberger has also been jumping with Fischer since the beginning of her career. She came to ski jumping through her big model Andi Goldberger.

“It’s very obvious. Back then he was THE ski jumper for us in Schildorn and Waldzell. I still definitely remember that he even attended our training sessions on the old ski jump every now and then and jumped himself,”

recalls Seifriedsberger. Her personal goal for the season is the World Championships in Lillehammer and a milestone for all ski flyers: “This year I want to break the 200.”

Lebenshilfe Ried was also there and visited the show and greeted the athletes:

“Local level for the economy”

The host of the show Christoph Vormair from Weberzeile is pleased to welcome another event in the house. “We’re not just a shopping center, we also want to be a platform for the economy and various events,” says Vormair and reveals: “We’ll make sure things shine beautifully a- again during the Christmas season.
