Chimaeras are also known as ghost sharks, fish relatives of sharks and rays with dark eyes and wing fins.

According to Natural World Facts, unlike most sharks which use their tails to swim, this shark uses large pectoral fins (similar to wings to glide through the water).

This fish is one of the oldest fish in the world. Chimaera existed in the oceans when dinosaurs were still on earth, then they evolved.

Reporting from the National Geographic page, chimaeras are called ghost sharks because this fish is rarely seen by humans. This fish lives deep in the ocean, past the point where sunlight can penetrate.
