The golden voice of Vincent Niclo

#ALES Candidate in several reality TV shows, become host at France Télévisions, notably Stars sing for Sidaction, Vincent Niclo is first and foremost an actor and a classical singer, who delighted the Alesian seniors on Sunday at Cratère. The artist, whose voice is capable of running over four octaves, closed the Blue Week in front of a room acquired in his repertoire, including the famous Amaizing Grace or They love each other, by Daniel Lavoie. In the first part, trumpeter Richard Gardet paid tribute to the memory of Alésien Maurice André.

During the night, a bridge disappeared from the highway

#MONTPELLIER A few hours were enough, during the night from Saturday to Sunday, for the demolition machines to “digest” the 750 tonnes of concrete from one of the A709 bridges, near Montpellier. With the old highway cut for the occasion, Vinci agents have started with these nighttime works the second phase of a project which will ultimately allow the tramway to cross to the Montpellier-Sud de France station. Before destroying this 58 m long structure, a bridge was first built, onto which traffic is now transferred, and a second will now be launched above the six lanes of the A709. The complex will receive cars, pedestrians, trams and bicycles at the end of 2024.

A festival for sick children

#NIMES The arenas of the Domaine de Méjanes, in Arles, will host, next Sunday, a charity bullfight, imagined by Nîmes matador Marc Serrano, for the benefit of hospitalized children. This festival, called A bullfight for a child’s dream, will invite six breeders and six French bullfighters from “several generations” to the sand of the Guillot family arena, explains the man who is proposing this event for the second time. There will be “Stéphane Meca and I, the youngest, with Maxime Solera and Carlos Olsina, and the two Nîmes novilleros Lalo de Maria and Niño Julian. We will also find the winner of the morning bolsin (10:30 a.m.), where six will perform bullfighting schools.” In 2022, the first edition made it possible to pay the sum of 17,482 euros to the pediatric department of the Arles hospital and to the Capitelles de Nîmes association, with the voluntary and selfless assistance of all those involved. “I wanted a day in the spirit of a festival, with exchanges with the public and conviviality,” smiles Marc Serrano.

The vocation of chaplains

#SEAT Protestant prison chaplains hold their national meetings on the singular island, in the premises of the Lazaret, invited to share their daily life and to detail this other “vocation” which is theirs, in addition to their religious priesthood. These volunteers’ mission is to visit inmates in their cells and support them spiritually. “You have to go there regularly,” says Étienne Scharf, who works in the North, “because these people deprived of their liberty need to be supported. We are a breath of fresh air in their violent and difficult daily lives.” Chaplain in prisons in the Paris region, Patricia Richardeau says she “brings them a message of forgiveness and freedom”, despite the bars.

The number of the day: 1,000

#BEZIERS A thousand as the number of steps that the competitors of the Béziers Urban Trail, taking part this Sunday on the 22 kilometer course, had to climb, during this event which was as sporting as it was popular. Four proposals awaited families and athletes alike, with a hike and races of 9, 15 and 22 “miles”. “They’re going to end up killing us with all these marches!” joked one of the participants upon arrival this Sunday.
