The new British TV series announced by Netflix

House of Guinness (provisional title) tells the story of one of Europe’s most famous and long-lived dynasties: the Guinness family. Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, Steven Knight’s series (pictured) focuses on the aftermath of the death of Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the eponymous brewery, and the enormous impact of his cunning willpower over the fate of his four adult children – Arthur, Edward, Anne and Ben – as well as over a group of Dubliners who work and interact with the giant behind one of today’s most beloved alcoholic beverages.

Adolescence (working title) is a 4-episode miniseries in which the duo behind the acclaimed Boiling Point, Stephen Graham e Philip Barantinijoins forces with the equally award-winning Jack Thorne (Help, His Dark Materials). Nothing is known for now about the story, written by Graham and Thorne, directed by Barantini. The project is described as an ambitious crime drama told in real time, in the style of Boiling Point.

The Choiceof the Oscar nominee Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies), follows Suranne Jones and Julie Delpy as the British Prime Minister and French President. When the former’s husband is kidnapped and the latter, visiting the country, is blackmailed, the two leaders both find themselves facing unimaginable choices. Forced into a fierce rivalry where their political futures and lives may hang in the balance, can they work together to uncover the conspiracy that threatens them? They will also star in the series Corey Mylchreest (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story), Lucian Msamati (Gangs of London), Ashley Thomas (Black Cake), James Cosmo (Game of thrones) e Jenny Beth (Anatomy of a fall).

The Witness tells the story of Rachel Nickell’s murder from the point of view of Alex Hanscombe, who witnessed his mother’s brutal killing on Wimbledon Common. It’s a beautiful summer morning in 1992 and Alex is only 2 years old. The crime drama follows the police investigation and explores the unexpected ways in which tragedy has transformed the lives of Alex and his father André.

In the end, Grown Ups, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Marian Keyes, presents itself as a family drama about three loyal, loud and loving couples – Nell and Liam, Cara and Ed, Jessie and Rory. Like most families, the Caseys are a complicated bunch. Ever-changing opinions, old and new resentments, issues that quickly fade, and wounds that are healed forever are at the heart of this ensemble series. “I screamed when I got the news,” Keyes said. The screenwriter and executive producer “Sam Strauss he really understood the dynamics of the book and I loved the adaptation and the scripts I saw. Honestly, I’m so happy.”
