Volkswagen Touran, from $12,500
The model, which has much in common with the VW Golf, including its reliability, is not very common in the 7-seater version, because the third row was added for an additional fee. Nevertheless, such cars are found in Ukraine. Despite the expensive brand, the car is in many ways practical and beneficial for family use: small-inch wheels, normal ground clearance (16 cm), roof rails, removable second-row seats. The back of the right front seat lies down, which is convenient for transporting something narrow and long. The range of engines is traditionally wide for VW. For used cars, 1.6 liter and 2.0 liter diesel engines are especially recommended, because all gasoline engines are ambiguous small-volume TSI units, each of which should be looked at very carefully when purchasing. Transmissions are mechanical and automatic, although among the latter there are only preselective DSG “robots”, which are not very reliable in old age. Despite the high body and noticeable weight, the car handles well and is not harsh on bitten asphalt.
Renault Grand Scenic IV (2016–2022), from $14,400
The seven-seater version of the popular minivan was offered by the manufacturer under the separate name Grand Scenic, and it is truly Grand because it is already 23 cm longer (4.63 m). Although it should be borne in mind that even in this enlarged form the car may have only two rows of seats. The seats in the two rear rows fold easily to create a flat cargo area. Gasoline engines are only supercharged, because they are small-displacement (1.2 and 1.3 l), and diesel engines will be more interesting for the Ukrainian driver because they have a larger displacement (1.5 l, 1.6 l and 1.7 l). ). There are two “automatic machines”, but both are robots with two clutches, and they are combined only with diesel engines.
Opel Zafira C/Zafira Tourer C, from $11,900
A car with a somewhat confusing name (at a certain period the Tourer title was dropped from the name), however, regardless of the name, it could have an optional third row of seats in the trunk. At the same time, both rear rows fold down to form a flat floor for convenient placement of luggage (maximum length of items is 3.0 m). At the same time, there are other options for transforming the interior for greater passenger comfort. The engine range is quite interesting, even among gasoline units there are full-displacement engines of 1.6 and 1.8 liters, not to mention diesel options of 1.6 and 2.0 liters in different settings. In general, this model became one of the revolutionary ones for Opel – it was then that it stepped forward from cheap utilitarian transport to comfortable and high-quality cars of a higher class.
Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, from $9,500
This extended (+17 cm) version of the C4 Picasso is perceived as a completely independent model. The 7-seater interior is comfortable and cozy, the seats in the two rear rows fold down, and in the second row, each one is individually adjustable. In addition, the back of the right front seat folds, which is convenient for transporting long items. There are many drawers and hiding places in the cabin, there is even a secret box in the floor. It is important that due to the absence of a “beard” under the center console, it is possible to change from the driver’s seat to the right seat and vice versa. You can choose a gasoline or diesel engine, there are mechanical transmissions, there are automatic ones, including Japanese hydromechanical automatic transmissions, coveted by experienced drivers, and simple but inexpensive “works”. When driving, the car is not sporty; on a flat road the ride is smooth; on rough roads the comfort is not very good, but this, in fact, is a typical phenomenon for many Citroens.
BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, from $12,300
Quite a rare car for Ukraine, and all over the world it has pretty much shaken up the minds of BMW fans: the car is front-wheel drive, and even has three-cylinder engines in the lineup! But there are also “normal” 4-cylinder units, gasoline and diesel. Traditionally for the brand, motors (all without exception) are distinguished by flexible characteristics and efficiency, “automatic machines” are real Bavarian “Steptronics”. Despite the technical platform that is unusual for the Bavarians, the minivan remains a BMW – the interior is distinguished by expensive finishes and a style characteristic of the brand. At the same time, a certain practicality is also in place – all rear seats can be transformed into different configurations, the backrest of the right front seat can optionally also be folded.
In short
Any minivan is the most rational type of car, because it uses the useful volume of the body, as they say, to the fullest. Accordingly, the seven-seater minivan is the most rational of all minivans. But! Provided that you know for sure that such a number of places will be in demand. After all, from the experience of experienced users it is known that by chance the need to fill all six passenger seats practically does not arise – usually people travel in them according to the regular family schedule. Why then carry extra seats with you and pay extra for them? Wouldn’t it be better to spend this extra payment on a better condition or richer equipment of another car with a standard 5-seater interior? In a word, the choice of a seven-seater minivan should be conscious, unless you get two “extra” seats “for the load” without additional payment.
