Car sales in Indonesia for the period August 2023 have increased. Quoting data released by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), wholesale car sales in the eighth month reached 88,676 units. Not much different, the retail car sales figure was recorded at 86,361 units.
Cumulatively, car sales in Indonesia have reached 675,287 units (wholesales) and 665,251 units (retail). The position of the best-selling brand has not changed. The brand from Sakura Country, Toyota, is still at the top of retail car sales with a score of 28,104 units. It’s not surprising, Toyota’s line-up is the most complete. Toyota cars target all groups. Plus, the range of electrified vehicles offered by Toyota is also quite complete, starting from hybrid, PHEV and also electric.
Daihatsu then filled second place by sending 16,335 units of its cars to consumer garages. Next there is Honda which recorded sales of 10,050 units at retail.
The fourth position is occupied by Mitsubishi with sales of 7,976 units. Closing the top five positions, there is Suzuki which sold 7,040 cars. Hyundai then followed five Japanese manufacturers in sixth position. Hyundai is the only South Korean brand in the top ten best-selling brands. Apart from Hyundai, another non-Japanese brand in the top ten is Wuling. Wuling occupies 10th position with sales of 2,386 units.
Getting closer to Wuling is Mazda and Chery. The two of them took turns filling the 11th and 12th positions on the list of best-selling brands in Indonesia.
