But who will succeed Franck Azéma on the side of Marcel-Michelin ? While the emblematic manager of Clermont (2010-2021) will leave office in a few months, the leaders of the Auvergne club are looking for a successor.
On Sud Radio, this weekend, the consultant Olivier Magne said he was very interested in the position. While he has not coached since 2016, the former third international line revealed that he had a meeting with the president of theASM :
“I want to take up a sporting project and put my foot down (…) I had an interview with the president of Clermont and everything went very well. Things stayed there and I don’t know what will happen next. But I really want to resume training, yes, ”he said.

A decision at the end of April
Olivier Magne, who wore the jersey of Jaunards during his playing career (1999-2005), did not have much experience as acoach.
After a first season at Brive in 2007, « Charly » had been appointed coach of the Greece (2009-2010), before becoming, in particular, coach of the forwards of the France for under 20s (2014-2016). Since then, Magne has worked as a consultant in the media, on Eurosport and more recently on Sud Radio.
It is live, this Saturday, that the man with 90 selections in Bleu has officially declared that he is a candidate to succeed Franck Azéma. For the moment, no decision has been taken according to him:
There is a short list that will be made on their side. I believe that the president has given himself until the end of April to reveal the person who will succeed Franck Azéma, who has done an enormous job at ASM. It’s not easy, but I want to join this project and try to be as ambitious as the ASM can be on a future project. We’ll see. I know the club and the environment well. I was quite moved to come back to Clermont to discuss this and my future with the president. Everything went very well and the discussion was very nice.
If his coaching CV is not very rich, the playing career of Olivier Magne and his past at Clermont could however work in his favor. Answer within a few weeks so …
