Good city cars are small, practical and easy to drive, and the best ones also have a bold design. If we add some more powerful engines, we have a perfect recipe for urban commuting.
The famous British magazine Autocar published a top dedicated to small cars and we have something to be proud of: a new Dacia model was chosen for this ranking.
Autocar claims that this top 10 of the best perfect city cars also includes some models that can be considered even better than slightly larger cars in other classes.

1.Hyundai i10
With engines of up to 100 HP, the South Korean manufacturer’s model is considered by the British magazine to be the best small car available in the UK. The Hyundai i10 is also available in Romania, and British journalists appreciate this car for the engines, the quality of the materials and the standard features offered.
2. Suzuki Ignis
With an appearance that refers to a Suzuki Ignis crossover model get points from Autocar for design and equipping with the AllGrip system brings extra points. The Japanese model can be configured with a 1.2-liter hybrid engine with a power of 83 HP.
3. Kia Picanto
With a similar platform to that of the Hyundai i10, this South Korean model is also to the liking of British journalists: the road holding and above-average features offered as standard are appreciated. The 1.0 MPI engine does not have many resources, but in the case of the 1.0 T-GDI version, things are completely different.
4. Volkswagen Up
The Up is the smallest car in the Volkswagen range, but it does not lose all the distinctive signs for which the brand is famous. While not the most revolutionary in the segment, the Up beats its closest rivals in terms of finish and desirability. As with its siblings from Seat and Skoda, the Up is also available with fully electric propulsion. The engine with a power of 83 hp seems to be suitable for short trips around town.
5. Skoda Citigo-e iV
Although it is not sold in the UK Autocar journalists have included the electric model from Skoda in this top and even installed it in fifth place. The Czech model uses the platform also used by the VW Up! and for this reason it is considered a suitable car for the city.
6. Toyota Aygo
The small model from Toyota received a facelift in 2018 and is appreciated for the quality of the materials used. The 1.0-liter engine does not offer too much power, but contributes to economy through low consumption.
7. Seat Mii Electric
The same story applies to the Seat Mii just as it does to its platform sibling the Skoda Citigo. The Spanish version of the Volkswagen Group’s city car is no longer offered and in its final days was an electric-only proposition, using the same 36.8kW battery to power the 82bhp engine. But it appears in this top 10 best city cars for 2022.
8.Fiat Panda
The third generation of this model remains a landmark in the market especially because it also has all-wheel drive. Fiat Panda is sold here only with the 70 HP 1.0 Hybrid engine.
9. Fiat 500
And this model of the company from Italy takes a place in the list made by Autocar: FIat 500 can be configured with a mild-hybrid engine or an electric propulsion system. The most powerful version offers 118 hp and the power is considered very good for a city car.
10. Dacia Sandero
It is not the first time that Autocar includes in a top 10 a model with the Dacia logo: recently the Duster SUV was listed by the British magazine in the top of the best 4×4 cars. Now it’s the turn of the Sandero range to be analyzed by British journalists and the model produced at Mioveni is appreciated for the ratio between price and features. The 1.0 TCe engine with 90 horsepower is to the liking of journalists in the UK and the Dacia Sandero receives appreciation because it can also be ordered with a propellant powered by LPG.
