Let’s not beat around the bush, this April has to offer gaming fans a fraction of what March did. There are a limited number of major releases this month, and of the major releases, few have the same gravitas and weight as what we’ve seen in previous months. Still, there are new games to look forward to, so with that in mind, let’s dive into the new episode of GTLF.
Sons of Valhalla (PC) – April 5
This pixel combat and base-building game from Pixel Chest lets players build forts and lay siege to enemy strongholds in medieval England. This is a game about conquests and raids, and as the name suggests, you play as a brutal and dangerous Viking warrior.

If you enjoy the challenge offered by Escape Academy and Maquette, you’ll love Balloon Studios’ Botany Manor. This exploration title is about using your botany skills to research and grow exotic plants while uncovering the secrets of the English mansion you live in.

Grounded (PS4, PS5, Switch) – April 16
Yes, it’s the same Grounded you’ve come to love and appreciate on PC and Xbox consoles for years. We’re including it in this month’s GTLF because it’s part of Microsoft’s larger and new multi-platform effort, which means that starting in mid-April, PlayStation and Switch fans will be able to join in on the micro-adventure fun.

Moon Studios is best known for its Ori games, but soon it’s giving us something completely different. Boomer shooters may have never been more popular. Slipgate Ironworks knows this, and is looking to launch an action-packed, bloody, 80s-like action shooter this April that lets players take on the role of an American hero as they travel across the country to save humanity from horrific and deadly mutant creatures and cruelty Violation by soldiers.
Another Crab’s Treasure (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Switch) – April 25
When a developer is called Aggro Crab, you might expect them to create a crustacean-based game. Sand Land promises to be one of the biggest games of April by offering a large number of highly customizable vehicles, as well as an extensive combat suite that allows players to wield the full demonic power of Beezlebub.
Top Spin 2K25 (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series) – April 26th
Whether tennis video games are your jam or not, seeing Top Spin back in action is an exciting development. From 2K, the return of the tennis franchise will allow players to compete on the Pro Tour alongside some of the best and most iconic pros of all time, all in the pursuit of trophies and etching your name in the history books, alongside The best player ever.
Star Blade (PS5) – April 26
We can almost guarantee that you’ve seen Stellar Blade at some point since its arrival, most likely because of its rather defiantly designed protagonist. But no matter where you stand on the matter, Stellar Blade is set to be PlayStation’s big release in April, an action-adventure game that puts players in the role of the robot EVE and is tasked with piecing together the mystery of Earth’s downfall and the destruction of the entire planet The causes of the evil forces of civilization.
Sea of Thieves (PS4, PS5) – April 30
Similar to Grounded, Sea of Thieves is the same game that PC and Xbox players have been enjoying for years, but considering it’s a massive franchise owned and developed by Microsoft that debuted on Sony’s PlayStation console, we’ve chosen to include it This month’s GTLF.
