Top 10 Electric Car Tests in Latvia: Find Your Perfect Match Today

In collaboration with car dealers, Elektrum Drive has created a catalog of electric car tests available on the market. The test aims to enable electric car buyers to make their choice easier, and it evaluates the efficiency of more than 50 electric car models available in Latvia especially in climatic conditions and Latvian traffic. During test trials, data was obtained on the maximum mileage of an electric car with a full battery, average consumption in cities, on the highway and in combined mode, as well as charging speed. Practical test results are available to all interested parties elektrum.lv/elektroautotesti.

The development of electromobility is happening rapidly. There are already more than 30 million electric cars on the world’s roads. According to CSDD data, in 2020 there were 672 electric cars on the register in Latvia, and currently their number exceeds 7,100.

“If a few years ago the choice of electric cars was very limited, now there are many options in choosing models, prices and equipment. If you don’t know which model of electric car to choose, their wide offer can lead you to a dead end. Especially since these types of cars are becoming more and more like technology. Statistical data also show that, on average, an electric car drives the same amount of time per year as an internal combustion engine car,” says Elektrum electromobility expert Edgars Korsaks-Mills.

Therefore, the Elektrum Drive electric car test catalog can help a customer make a reasonable choice among the diverse selection of models, prices and equipment. There, more than 50 electric car models available on the Latvian market were gathered in one place, and their efficiency was checked by Elektrum experts during test trials.

Edgars Korsaks-Mills continues: “Elektrum tests the efficiency of electric cars by conducting a test run on a specific route and following a single test procedure. Some electric car models have been tested in both summer and winter, and we are still adding new models to the catalog. It should be noted that the test of each electric car model is unique, with different traffic and climate conditions, which may affect the result of the electric car test, so it is recommended not to compare electric car test data between models. The purpose of the test result is to demonstrate the efficiency of the particular electric car obtained through the test drive. A customer can take this into account before buying an electric car by checking and comparing various publicly available information and data about the electric car model of interest.”

Electric car tests were carried out on three routes:

  • cities ~ 90 km (average speed 30-35 km/h);
  • highway ~ 80 km (average speed 90-95 km/h);
  • in the ~ 150 km together (average speed 50-60 km/h).

Key evaluation criteria:

  • maximum mileage with full charge (in integrated mode);
  • average consumption on different routes;
  • charging rate at the Elektrum Drive charging station 50 kW and / or 150 kW DC (from 5% to 95%).

All test tests were carried out while driving in “ECO” mode and maintaining a comfort temperature of ~ 21 oC in the cabin, and the data obtained were read from the on-board computer of the particular electric car model.

Comment from Kursors.lv:

The boys and girls of Elektrum Drive are proud of their hard work! Driving 50 different cars is no joke and the results obtained are another way to get an idea of the possibilities of operating electric cars in Latvian conditions. In addition, we recommend that you also take a look at the ones we made Electric car test 1000 km, which we believe will delve deeper into the capabilities of the test cars. Currently, we have already tested 35 different electric cars available in Latvia in this way.
