Christmas carols can do a lot. They can stop time, make you happy, even create an overwhelming desire to dance, but above all that, Christmas carols are enchanting. They have a special magic that makes us realize how rich we are every year because everyone has a chance to hear and appreciate them.
Likewise, I cannot fail to mention the musicians who give us these songs, surprising us with their talent. Thank you for creating this world in the sound of music.
I’m calling on local musicians and bands to give away their all-time favorite Christmas songs. They managed not only to stop at this hectic time, but to create a selection of Christmas carols that will be useful in every home where the Christmas tree shines at this time.
Mara Upman – Holstein and Goran Gora
Mara:
Christmas carols are worth listening to, because music has the power and ability to transport you a bit into another reality. Christmas music has the ability to stop you from the daily grind, so it’s good to listen to it.
The Hobos: The Hobos – A Frickin’ Xmas Song
Kristine Paže: Peace
Goran Gora: Wake up
In the new year, I wish you to believe in yourself and your strength, because only then will everything succeed!
Janis:
Music is one of the strongest catalysts of emotions and can either motivate, strengthen or relax at important moments. Christmas time is also always associated with music, which helps to get out of the daily routine, directs thoughts into the festive mood and sets mind for peace, harmony and participation. For me, Christmas carols are a manifesto of all that is good, sweet and human.
Sting: Soul cake
The Pogues: Fairytale of New York Bing Crosby
David Bowie: Peace on earth/ Little drummer boy
You don’t need much: peace in the world, the victory of good over evil and reconciliation. We are so different, but we are all the same – people. If only we could step away from our subjective ego settings, life would become much easier. I wish that we all see those black dots in our white hearts and rub them off. The new year should be cleaner.
Normunds Rutulis
It is quite difficult to name a favorite Christmas tune, because its arrangement and performance are very important for the song to be liked.
So it would be more appropriate to name the versions of the songs that I like, because almost all the classic Christmas songs are beautiful.
Really like Babyface, Michael Buble, Nat King Cole and a German singer Andreas Weise interpretations, each filled with high-quality musicality both in arrangement and performance, and provide what, in my opinion, should be received through music at Christmas – joy of life, peace, hope for the future and the aesthetic pleasure that can only be obtained through music.
And yet, I’ll try to name my three Christmas tunes, adding my favorite artist to this song:
Andreas Weise: “I’ll be home for Christmas”
Michael Buble: “Have Yourself a Merry little Christmas”
Normunds Rutulis: “Only white”
About the first two, what is written above is also a description. For the third, self-performed – it is my favorite Christmas song. First of all because of Jānis Strazda’s sounding melody, then the musicians’ felt performance and finally with the words of Ivars Kurpnieks – … and I really understood that this miracle is me and you … Sometimes it is even difficult to sing this song because of the emotion that creates a lump in the throat.
And maybe the one I made may come in handy this Christmas pleilist “The Right Music for Christmas” I have put together Spotify, when traditional music has become tiresome.
“DAGAMBA” group
“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” – we have performed this piece and we can unequivocally say that this is one of the most beautiful Christmas songs ever created. Creates a mood.
“Last Christmas” – an absolute Christmas classic. This song was created by George Michael at an early age and after its success, he never had to worry about his financial situation again. We wish every musician such hits!
Killing in the Name (Rage Against the Machine) – relevant for us, because soon you will be able to hear it also on our Latvian concert tour “Bach Against the Machine”. But why did we choose this as a Christmas song? In 2009 it miraculously reached number 1 in the UK Christmas charts.
We can’t wait for the New Year, when we will meet the audience in the best concert halls as part of the Latvian tour “Bach Against the Machine”. Have a beautiful holiday and a New Year full of glorious events!
Latvian Radio 2 program managerda singer, songwriter Martin Kanters
I don’t know if you’ve heard, but scientists have proven that it’s Christmas carols that make you feel Christmas.
If I had to name three songs to listen to this holiday, I would start with the Latvian song: “Eglīte”, then I would like you to listen to “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and then, to have a happier mind, you could sing along along with “The bell rings”. Happy holiday everyone!
The Little Prince Group
In short, we can say that any song that is about a woman is a holiday song. Because where there is a woman, there is a celebration… We also recommend listening to songs about love. Because what is this Christmas? It’s all about love!
Musician Aivo Oskis
I really like Christmas music because it has a special ability to create a festive feeling. My TOP3 Christmas songs:
Brenda Lee: “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.” This song appeals to me because I really like the timbre of Brenda Lee’s voice, I think it has become a holiday classic.
Bianca Ryan: “Why Couldn’t It Be Christmas Every Day?”. This one isn’t as popular, but it plays in my house every year. I listen to it and sing along while preparing holiday dinner with my family.
Michael Bublé: “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” This song creates a feeling of peace and warmth. Listening to it, I often think about the meaning of holidays and how important it is to be with your loved ones.
I wish everyone to spend this holiday with their loved ones, enjoying each other’s company, laughing and watching a holiday movie together. Have a peaceful Christmas time!
Musician Mārtiņš Jātnieks
Riders: “Season of Peace”
“Have YourSelf A Merry Little Christmas”
“Circenish’s Christmas”
There are many songs that make you feel the feeling of Christmas, but this is my Top 3. I wish everyone a bright and sunny country holiday full of music! May everyone have someone at home who welcomes them with a heart full of love and kind words every day!
Singer DIONA
The carols help to ring out Christmas within yourself. I listen to them when I wrap presents, drive in the car, cook. The most famous Christmas carols are passed down from year to year, so they become almost like holiday “anthems”. They are worth knowing and, perhaps, listening to some public ones pleilistsyou can hear another good and old Christmas carol that has not been heard before.
“Santa Claus is Coming To Town”
“”Rockin’ around the Christmas Three”
“Merry Christmas Everyone”.
I wish the listeners to believe in miracles and to be like miracles themselves – both in their own lives and those of those close to them. I wish you to enjoy your time with your loved ones and remember that the value is not in the price or quantity of gifts, but in their message.
Grupa “BARITONI”

ABBA:The Winner Takes It All
