Gabriel Gil Baes, a law graduate of the University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu City, has earned the privilege of nominating a person to receive a full scholarship from his alma mater after ranking sixth in the 2022 Bar Examinations with a rating of 87.25 percent. Baes is the only law graduate from a university outside of Metro Manila who made it to the top 10 in the exams. USC’s “Gift of Education” scholarship, run by missionaries of the Societas Verbi Divini or Society of the Divine Word, will be given to Baes. He can nominate a scholar who can enroll in any course at the university. The SVD priests’ dedication to offering scholarships instead of other considerations highlights the importance of education, said USC College of Law Dean Jose Glenn Capanas.
