Took a chat with Harvey Elliott before the transition became a fact

On Monday, it was confirmed that the 19-year-old offensive midfielder Fabio Carvalho will announce a transfer from Fulham to Liverpool on July 1. The transfer fee will in principle be five million pounds.

It is known that Carvalho has already visited the AXA Training Center in Kirkby to talk to Jürgen Klopp and get to know the facility at the same time as he carried out the medical check. In his farewell interview with fulhamfc.com says Carvalho that he has also cut off a conversation with Harvey Elliott in connection with the transition. As is well known, Elliott went the same way in 2019.

– We have talked a bit, but he had his own season to think about and I was focused on moving up with Fulham. We did not go in depth, but a little about how the seasons have gone and how we had it, says Carvalho.

– Could not have asked for more

Liverpool’s first confirmed signing in the summer of 2022 comes from a phantom season with the club he has been in since 2013. Fulham won the Championship and secured promotion to the Premier League on the first try after last year’s relegation. Carvalho was a key part of the team, scoring ten goals and delivering eight assists in 36 league games.

The English-Portuguese, who moved from Lisbon to London nine years ago and has the opportunity to represent both national teams, says it was sad to say goodbye to the club.

– I have spent my entire teenage life here and could not have asked for more. It was emotional when I played my last game for Fulham, says the youngster and adds that the relationship with manager Marco Silva has been strong this season.

– Every day he has helped to make me better, and I am grateful to him and the entire support staff. They make sure that I keep my concentration up and deliver as well as I can in training, he says in the interview.

Would stay out the season

Carvalho was almost ready for Liverpool on the deadline day in January, but the transfer did not come in time when Fulham wanted to keep the 19-year-old on loan for the rest of the season. Carvalho himself says that it was important for him to finish the season with the London club.

– The club wanted me to stay, and it was the right decision. I’m glad it ended like this, and the most important thing for me was to move up, he says.

– Everyone in the club has a very good relationship. We are like a family both on and off the field. It was a special moment to say goodbye to everyone, says Carvalho, who got to lift the Championship trophy with his family before he now travels to Liverpool.

– Now I will follow Fulham in the Premier League. I hope they do well, he says.
