50,000 French people signed up for the social leasing system for an electric car in the past six weeks. This means that the budget for 2024 has already been used up.
After six weeks, the ‘social leasing’ system for electric cars in France has already been exhausted before 2024. More than 50,000 registrations have already been made and a new edition will follow in 2025, the Elysée announced on Monday.
With the system, the French state offers the lowest incomes the opportunity to lease an electric car for 100 euros per month. The system, which was launched by French President Emmanuel Macron in December, has been a great success and the targets for this year have already been exceeded.
The French government had aimed for around 20,000 to 25,000 cars by 2024. But the offer was immediately a huge success. “With this first wave we have achieved and even exceeded our objectives,” it said. (blg)
