Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 review – pure fun!

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 has been available since last weekend, time for a review! We turned the game inside out in a short time.

In our preview of the demo I was already very enthusiastic about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2. Be sure to read that article first, because I continue to drill on the story I wrote then. The enthusiasm for the game has not gone away. In fact, I’ve only gotten more excited.

In this review for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 I was able to get to know all aspects of the game extensively. With a little rosy cheeks of shame, I have to admit that I finished the game 100% in one weekend. And we’re talking about unlocking all levels, including the corresponding challenges. But that’s not all Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 has to offer. And that’s what makes it so brilliant.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 review

In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, the makers have processed a huge range of challenges. Think of the challenges you know from Call of Duty, but for a skate game. You are really happy to do all those challenges. For example, you have specific challenges for your self-made skater, but also for certain levels. You can adapt that homemade skater in terms of appearance, clothing, skateboard and accessories. You do this with money that you can earn in-game. A great system. I could basically buy whatever I wanted. I never sat for a moment grinden for an item. Very nice!

Multiplayer

Also new in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is the arrival of a multiplayer that I also tried out for the review. It is a mode that I personally do not like the most. Simply because there are always others who are extremely good at the game. As a casual gamer, I’m simply not going to win from that. Playing with your friends online or offline is also possible and in my opinion more fun. I spent most of the hours solo. For example, for every skater in the game you have to collect items per map to make them better. I can tell you about that for a while.

Music

What’s cool about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is that the game has remained very loyal to the original. The music, the environments, even the locations of the challenges have remained the same. Not all songs from the original soundtrack can be found in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2. The makers have filled that gap with different, new music. For the most part, the music ties in well with the rest of the playlist. If you don’t like the song, you can always skip it at the touch of a button. Relaxed!

Create-A-Park

If you have seen the levels from the game, you can get started with your own park. If you are not that creative, you can play someone else’s park online. I have already come across the most crazy parks. It is always a surprise what someone else has made. That can be a really serious skating track, but some also make it a competition to build absurd parks. How about a roller coaster as a skate park? Tony Hawk’s 1 +2 has it for you.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is finally a game that offers relaxation in a busy world. Because where jars Fortnite in Call of Duty can be incredibly hectic, THPS 1 +2 is just relaxing. Of course you have your frustrations when a challenge doesn’t work or you fall off your board again. But that’s just part of it. If you really can’t stand that, you can turn on one of the many game mods. For example, that you can never fall and always have maximum balance when grinding.

Conclusion

For the review of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 I really had to think carefully about the bad sides of the game. When I speak for myself I think the challenges will get boring quickly. It’s a huge laundry list, but not one I long to finish. Another disadvantage is that you cannot adjust the skater very extensively in terms of physique. In Tony Hawk’s Underground, for example, you could make someone fat or thin, or very muscular. That had been the icing on the cake. Speaking of Tony Hawk’s Underground. Get on with that remaster / remake please!

Pros

  • The feeling of the past is back
  • 2 legendary games recreated in top condition
  • Lots of content to keep you entertained

Negatives

  • All those challenges can get boring
  • Create-A-Skater could be a bit more extensive
  • Part 3 + 4 and Tony Hawk Underground as a remaster have not yet been announced;)

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is now available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For the review, we played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Deluxe Edition on the PS4.
