Tony Hawk Remaster developer Vicarious Visions is being eaten up by Blizzard

Vicarious Visions, the developer behind the recent renovations of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Diablo II and Crash Bandicoot, changes its name to Blizzard Albany. This was confirmed by the studio itself via Twitter.

– We have officially merged with Blizzard Entertainment. Our development team will remain in Albany, New York, and will work exclusively with Blizzard games, the developer wrote and asked his Twitter followers to jump over to the official Blizzard account.

Blizzard’s acquisition began early last year, when the developer became set to work with Diablo II: Resurrected. Later in the fall reported Polygon that the name Vicarious Visions was going away, a rumor that has now been confirmed.

Vicarious Visions was founded in 1991, and specializes in porting and game development on handheld consoles. Activision acquired the studio in 2005, where he worked with Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, Skylanders and Destiny 2, among others.

The studio recently garnered much positive reviews for its work on the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, launched in 2017 and 2020, respectively.

In other Activision Blizzard news, the problems for the once prestigious gaming company continue. Several ongoing lawsuits reports on a work culture characterized by sexual harassment and gender discriminationwho reportedly goes all the way up to CEO Bobby Kotick.
