KOMPAS.com – Peak rain meteor Perseid can be seen tonight, Thursday (12/8/2021).
Quoted from the website of the National Space and Aviation Institute (Lapan), Perseid meteor shower has been active from 17 July to 24 August 2021. But the peak time will occur tonight.
Researcher at Pussainsa Lapan, Andi Pangerang, explained that the Perseid meteor shower can be witnessed starting Thursday (12/8/2021) night.
“It can be seen from tomorrow night (August 12) until the next morning (August 13), 20 minutes before sunrise,” Andi told Kompas.com, Wednesday (11/8/2021).

Starting at midnight
Meanwhile, Head of the Dissemination Division of the Lapan Space Science Center, Emanuel Sungging Mumpuni, said that the peak of the Perseid meteor shower could be observed starting at 00.00 or midnight local time.
“The time from midnight to early morning is the best time to be able to enjoy a meteor shower. Because it is like rain, so all this time, during the meteor shower period,” said Sungging, reported Kompas.com, Monday (9/8/2021).
The peak duration of the Perseid meteor shower lasts about 20 minutes.
Sungging also said that observing the Perseid meteor shower could be done without being affected by the light from the Moon.
Perseid meteor shower not disturbed by the early crescent Moon, because the crescent moon will set before midnight.
