Tonight on television: The Dark Knight | NOW

Heath Ledger has been praised worldwide for his portrayal of the Joker in The Dark Knight. Yet he is just one of many reasons to watch this movie. The modern classic will be broadcast on television on Sunday evening.

Just like in the first part of the Batman trilogy, Batman Begins, the superhero battles The Dark Knight still against the criminals in fictional Gotham City. This time, he is assisted by Commissioner Gordon and new public prosecutor Harvey Dent. When the trio has to deal with the unpredictable Joker, who only wants to create chaos, Batman seems to lose the battle against the underworld.

The Dark Knight is one of the few superhero films that has been embraced by critics and has won some major awards. After his death in 2008, Ledger won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his legendary role as the Joker. In addition, Oscar winner Christian Bale took home a People’s Choice Award for his role as Bruce Wayne / Batman.

The Dark Knight can be seen on Veronica at 8pm on Sunday.
