Tonight at your house: Russell Crowe has never been so creepy as in this untestable old-fashioned thriller! : Cinema and series

Forget the Russell Crowe of “Gladiator”, discover one of his most recent films, in which he is a muffled and devastating threat: “Enraged”.

Released in full confinement in August 2020, this gripping thriller in which Russell Crowe is extremely threatening went relatively unnoticed, but Enragé is today available to all Prime Video subscribers and it is better not to miss out.

Russell Crowe more menacing than ever

For what ? Because it takes up a theme that allowed Steven Spielberg to get noticed in his debut in the TV movie Duel. A man in a vehicle was being stalked by a mysterious trucker.

Enragé recounts the life of Rachel, a mother stuck at a fire behind a pick-up that won’t leave. She honks her horn and passes her. Further on, the overtaken car catches up with her and its driver asks Rachel to apologize. She refuses and leaves. The man will follow her and start stalking her relentlessly.

A simple synopsis for a film barely 1h22 long, effective as hell! The pick-up and its driver played by Russell Crowe (Nicolas Cage refused the role) will track down poor Rachel (Caren Pistorius) in a frightening way. Crowe’s stature is such and his demonstrations of violence so brutal that we end up getting caught up in the game of fear, in this solidly controlled entertainment.

A team that wins

The person responsible for this success is the American director Derrick Borte – to whom we already owe The Jones Family – who, with his camera on his shoulder, gives the dynamism it needs to Carl Ellsworth’s compact script, guaranteed without downtime! You can take our word for it: Enragé lives up to his name and once you see him, you won’t soon forget his violent character!

Russell Crowe and the director intend to reunite on a new action thriller, Bear Country, in which a club owner is threatened by the cartels, threatening his retirement which he had so well anticipated. If it’s in the same vein as Enragé, we’ll be there!
