The German midfielder Toni Kroos, who plays for Real Madrid, has announced on his social networks that he will return to the German national team starting next March.
«Guys, short and sweet: I will play for Germany again in March. Because? Because the federal coach asked me to, I feel like it and I am sure that in the Euro Cup you can do much more than most people believe at this moment,” Kroos indicated on ‘Instagram’, accompanied by a photograph of his back dressed in The German national team jersey.
Kroos, who has played 106 games for the German senior team, had retired from it on July 2, 2021, with a farewell letter.
Their last game was the 2-0 defeat against England in the round of 16 of the last European Championship.
Kroos, who before moving to Real Madrid had played for Hansa Rostock, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, started all the matches at Brazil 2014 where Germany was crowned world champion and was the author of two goals in the legendary 7-1 victory against Brazil.
Russia’s nightmare
The Madrid player also experienced the disaster in Russia 2018 four years later when Germany was eliminated in the first round.
Asked about the possibility of Kroos returning, coach Julian Nagelsmann had said it was “an interesting idea.”
«As far as I know, he has a German passport and is invited to show his conditions. If he shows his best version, I may call him,” Nagelsmann said on the “Sportschau” program.
Germany’s next matches are two friendlies against France in Paris on March 23 and against the Netherlands in Frankfurt on March 26. Nagelsmann wants to announce the call for those two games on the 15th of the same month.
