It all took place between February 2017 and January 2021. Toney’s club Brentford released a statement later Wednesday.
“The club has been in contact with Ivan and his legal representatives regarding the matter. These conversations will continue to be kept private. We will not comment further until this matter is resolved,” the club wrote on its website.
The FA announces that Toney has until 24 November to find an answer. The 232 infractions Toney is accused of are against rule E8 of the association’s bylaws. Bans players from betting on soccer matches, even matches they are not involved in.
Toney has been in fine form over the autumn and is third in the Premier League’s scoring charts with ten goals. However, he was not selected in England’s World Cup squad.
