Toneelhuis retains subsidy despite negative advice, Jambon increases cultural subsidies by 25 million

In the coming years, Flemish Minister of Culture Jan Jambon (N-VA) wants to “invest heavily in an arts sector that is becoming broader and more varied than ever”. For the policy period 2023-2027, an annual amount of 178.5 million euros is earmarked for this. That is 25 million euros more than is currently the case, but less than the cultural organizations had asked. A total of 7 art institutions, 4 organizations with specific assignments and 225 arts organizations will receive support.

“I am convinced that with this decision we give a broad and balanced package of organizations and institutions the necessary space to put our Flemish Cultural landscape on the map nationally and internationally. Our cultural fabric helps determine the quality of our society and deserves our support,” said Minister Jambon.
