He had to return to Italy after the sentence was handed down. He completed his sentence by visiting a psychiatrist and receiving treatment to overcome his gambling addiction.

Tonali admitted that the time he was banned from playing was one of the hardest things in his life. However, Tonali was slowly able to accept this bitter truth and was determined to rise.

The full support that the Newcastle players continue to give him is a motivational boost for Tonali through difficult times. After being able to go through difficult times, Tonali focused on preparing himself to be able to play again.

The 24-year-old midfielder admitted that he was in a very fit condition to compete again. He always maintained his condition while serving his sentence by continuing to train.

“Ten months is a long time, especially as a footballer competes every week. It’s difficult, but I train every day, even more than when I play,” said Tonali, quoted by Football Italia.

“I have been lucky to find all the people who work here in Newcastle who have always been by my side and close to me. This has helped me a lot – from the first day in October to today today.

“I had constant support from everyone: coaches, JT [Jason Tindall]and everyone in the team. The cooks, janitors, and secretaries – everyone. “There is not one person who does not show their support for me, apart from the supporters,” he explained.
