The first team of table tennis club Kampenion played at home last Saturday against Rotterdam’s Alexandria ’66 1, an important match in the middle bracket of the 2nd division. A leading role was reserved for Ton Ringenier, who remained undefeated.
It went quite easily against Daan Goossens and Tristan Benschop, but his match against Johnny Yang was breathtakingly exciting and of high quality. Sven Cammeraat of Alexandria ’66 also remained undefeated. Thomas Niemeijer, Gert-Jan de Lange and Robin Lieftink had to settle for one point. The double brought a fairly quick win for De Lange and Niemeijer.
With this score of 7 – 6, Kampenion is in fourth place, two points behind number 3, Alexandria ’66. Next Saturday, Kampenion 1 will travel to Amsterdam, for the battle against leader Tempo-Team 3. That will be a tough task for the Kampen residents.
The first youth team lost the away match against Table Tennis Zwolle 5 6 – 4. Nika van der Meulen won three games and Ismay Kaptein one. Jong Kampenion 1 is therefore third. The home game against Trias 4 is next Saturday.
