Tomorrow’s perceived temperature below -20 degrees’Tuk’… The cold wave continues for a long time

Winter cold. Material photo-At 9 pm on the 29th, a cold wave warning will take effect in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon (excluding Yeongdong), northern Chungcheong and northern Gyeongsang. On the morning of the 30th, the temperature of Seoul’s sensation drops to -20 degrees below zero, and a strong cold is raging across the country.

The Meteorological Administration predicted that on the 30th, the temperature in the morning and the day would drop by more than 10 degrees in most parts of the country on the 30th as cold air descended from the northwest.

In particular, in Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and northern Chungbuk, the morning temperature is expected to remain below -15 degrees Celsius, while other central regions are expected to remain below -10 degrees Celsius. The southern region will drop to around 5 degrees below zero.

The morning temperature is expected to be -17°C to -1°C, and the daytime temperature to be -4°C to 7°C.

The cold wave seems to be prolonged. This strong cold will continue until the last day of this year, the 31st, and then the temperature will rise temporarily on January 1st next year, but the temperature is still expected to continue for a long time (until January 8th), which is 2 to 5 degrees lower than normal.

It will snow in Chungnam, Jeolla-do and Jeju-do until the morning of January 1 next year. It snows in Jeollabuk-do on January 2nd, and Jeolla-do and Jeju-do from January 5th to 8th.

From January 5th to 8th, as the cold continental high pressure expands, the temperature drops sharply, and as the wind blows strongly, the perceived temperature is lower and it will be very cold.

In areas where rain or snow falls, visibility is shortened and roads are slippery. In particular, as the temperature decreases at night, ice or road ice may appear, so be careful about safety accidents. The Meteorological Administration added, “Please refrain from outdoor activities as much as possible, and take care to keep warm, such as wearing underwear, a scarf, and gloves when going out, or wearing several layers of clothes.”

On the other hand, according to the historical data of the number of files released by the Meteorological Administration (the number of days when the minimum temperature is below -12 degrees from 3:1 am to 9 am), the number of files last winter was 0 days. In Seoul, since the observation in 1907, the winter of 1944 was the most frequent with 41 days. After the 2000s, 2017 was the largest with 12 days per file.
