(CRHoy.com).- 10-year-old children can be vaccinated against COVID-19 from this Wednesday, January 19. This was reported by the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS).
Minors must attend with their parents to authorized vaccinators by health areas throughout the country.
Health authorities ask parents take their children to vaccinate, since the campaign will be according to the availability of doses.
“Although it is not as serious in them (COVID) as in adults, this does not mean that it does not have consequences for minors,” said Dr. Leandro Abarca of Epidemiological Surveillance of the CCSS.
In addition, in the event that there are remnants of the pediatric dose, the health areas may activate on Fridays, contingency plans to vaccinate children 8 years of age and older.
The vaccination schedule for people between 5 and 11 years of age consists of 2 doses with a distance of about 21 days.
In the week of the pediatric vaccination campaign, they have already applied 18,519 doses among children under 11 years of age and other children with risk factors.
