That is why, if somewhere in Poland the memory of the victims of a plane crash was commemorated, the celebrations had an intimate character. The central ones will be organized on Sunday, April 16.
Meanwhile, the Lublin celebrations – as the provincial office has just announced – will take place on Wednesday, April 12.
Smolensk catastrophe – program of celebrations in Lublin
time. 16.15 ceremony at Plac Litewski with military ceremonial:
- reporting to the commander of the Lublin Garrison
- playing the national anthem of the Republic of Poland by a military band and solemnly raising the national flag on the mast
- welcoming the participants of the ceremony
- reading the occasional proclamation of the Social Committee for the Celebration of the 13th Anniversary of the Smolensk Catastrophe
- performance of the occasional song
- memory appeal: reading out the names of 96 victims of the Smolensk catastrophe by two students, councilors of the Children and Youth Parliament of the Lubelskie Voivodeship, lighting 96 candles by scouts from ZHP, ZHR, Zawisza and students of uniformed classes from Lublin schools

Smolensk catastrophe
On April 10, 2010, the Polish delegation flew to the celebration of the anniversary of the Katyn massacre. 96 people died in the accident of the state plane – 88 passengers and 8 crew members. The presidential couple, Lech Kaczyński and his wife Maria, died. Several people associated with Lublin and the Lubelskie Voivodship, such as Edward Wojtas, a member of the Polish People’s Party, were also killed.
