As her departure for Boston is fast approaching, Solenne has seen her life turned upside down by the discovery of Sacha’s double life. Artemisia Toussaint tells us more about what awaits her character in the sequel to “Tomorrow belongs to us”.
Allociné: What attracted you in the role of Solenne?
Artemisia Toussaint: What I liked about the role of Solenne is that she is a very natural girl, very sunny and very kind. The only role I had had before was in a series called ASKIP. I was playing a not very nice girl so it gave me great pleasure to play a girl like Solenne and especially to play the role of a disabled girl. I had never done this, it was a challenge but it made me happy to play a young woman with a handicap.
Precisely, you play the role of a young disabled teenager at prime time in Tomorrow belongs to us. Is it important for you to bring up such a strong subject on the screen?
It’s really important because we don’t talk about it a lot. Especially since for Solenne, it is not a handicap from birth and it was important to show that despite the fact that she is in a wheelchair, she continues to smile, to be happy and to live like the young girls of her. age. It’s essential to show that. There are plenty of young girls, boys and adults who are disabled and it’s important to show that life goes on, that we can also be happy.
Solenne is currently at the heart of a great intrigue around the double life of Sacha (Renaud Roussel). What state of mind is she in with her father and how will their relationship evolve over the next few episodes?
Solenne completely denies the facts. She doesn’t want to believe that her father did everything she was accused of. She loves him very much and has no desire to be alone. She only has him, her brother and her uncle in life, so she doesn’t want to face it. She tries to defend her father with everyone, even with her brother. She takes his side and stays close to him despite all the horrible punches he has given her.
Tristan (Mathieu Alexandre) is very present for his nephews. Will he play a particular role to support your character?
Tristan will play a very important role in Solenne’s life. He always supported her in difficult times. He’s always been a super important person to her and he’s going to be even more so in the next few episodes. Although I can’t say why yet, Tristan is going to be someone even more important to her. They have a particularly strong relationship. Anyway, she can count the people who remain in her family on the fingers of one hand so she is necessarily close to everyone. She tries to keep them united.
The bond shared by Ben (Antoine Cohaut) and Solenne is very strong. Can we say that this new ordeal in their lives has brought them even closer?
Yes, especially since before they were hyper immature. There we see scenes where they are much closer, much more mature, they have discussions of adults that they should not have at their age. We see different facets of them. Sometimes they argue because they don’t agree but Ben always comes back to his sister. They are united and this story has brought them together a lot. I find them much closer than before.
Solenne and Gaspard (Mogamed Bechiev) met on social media and began to develop feelings for each other before learning that they were actually brother and sister. If Gaspard recently confided to her that he only felt friendship towards her, Solenne never clearly said what she felt towards him. According to you, is she in love with Gaspard?
For me, Solenne is not in love with Gaspard, no. At first she had feelings but it wasn’t necessarily in love. It did her a lot of good to talk to him, it spiced up her life which was a little sad. I think initially she had a little romantic feelings towards him but she never fell in love with him. And when she found out it was her brother, it turned into friendship and then into brotherly love. In my opinion, their story has always been platonic. They were talking to each other but they weren’t flirting with each other. It was not ambiguous, nor bizarre. It has always been very friendly between them.
How will their relationship evolve over the next few episodes?
Solenne and Gaspard will support each other. It will become more and more fraternal between them and they will gradually become a real family.
On the heart, can we hope to see Solenne find love soon?
Not at the moment because she doesn’t have the head for it. She focuses on her problems.
In addition to all this history with her father, Solenne is also going through a very important personal challenge since she must soon leave for Boston for an operation. Despite the context, will she succeed?
This is the big dilemma. She’s going to fight to have the operation. She hopes to walk again and she will do everything to.
Juliette (Mathilde Lebrequier) and Solenne briefly met at the hospital when Sacha made his suicide attempt. How does your character perceive Juliette and will they succeed in forming a bond?
There is not really a bond between them but they will succeed in accepting each other. Solenne does not see Juliette as an enemy, they are in the same situation since they have both been trapped by Sacha. There is no wickedness or hatred towards each other. She doesn’t hate her, but they won’t support each other. They will not have a link as Solenne could have had with Clémentine.
Solenne is not yet aware of what happened to Clémentine (Linda Hardy). How will she react when she learns of her death?
She is going to be in a depression and cry all the tears in her body. She is going to blame her whole family because they are going to hide the truth from her to keep her from being sad. She is going to be at its worst because Clémentine was like her second mother. It is unimaginable and horrible as pain for her. Especially since she has already lost her mother. With Clémentine, she had found a landmark, it was her pillar and she was always there for her. It’s awful for Solenne. Even I as an actress when I heard that Linda was going to leave and that the character of Clementine was going to die, I cried.
Will Solenne end up having suspicions about her father and can we expect to see her play a role in the outcome of this ark?
Not at all because even when outsiders will have suspicions about Sacha and put evidence in front of him, Solenne will not believe them. She will defend Sacha to the end and deny what is happening.
As Solenne was close to Clémentine, could she get closer to Garance (Esther Valding) and befriend her?
No. On the contrary, Solenne and Garance will have different points of view on what happened in relation to Clémentine. They will even end up arguing and will not be friends at all. It’s not going to go very well between them.
Do you have desires for the future of your character?
After everything she’s been through, I wish Solenne could walk again one day. It would make me extremely happy because she has been hoping for it for a long time. I would also like her to be less sad than what she is going through now. Something more rooted in comedy where Solenne would be happier, more joyful and with adolescent problems.
