Saturday morning 7:30 am. Punctually on time, pie baker Tommie from Nederweert delivers 135 boxes to the agreed location as a Christmas gift for the guests and volunteers of the Zonnebloem department Nederweert.
Sunflower Nederweert
Volunteers have previously started working on a matching Christmas and New Year’s wish in the form of a poem. A nice bow is tied around it and then several volunteers – wearing Santa hats or scarves – go out to surprise our “Sunflowerers” for the coming holidays. The delivery route passes several Care Centers or cozy homes where guests still live independently. The text on the box: “that is tasty, crispy, airy, purely fresh, enjoy, enjoy and enjoy, enjoy”, is very inviting. The reactions of the people to the delivery people were as heart-warming as they were grateful: “What did they do with the Sunflower, so full of ox. I can really enjoy Dao now. Go on your shoes Fiestdaag and have a good time.”
When chairman Mart Mennen heard all this, he responded: At Zonnebloem it’s all about people and that’s why we do it! The board of Zonnebloem Nederweert wishes everyone happy holidays and a happy and healthy New Year.
