Djurgård trot servants Tommi Vaiho and Elliot Käck were dismissed after the final whistle of the last home game of the season.
The former also got to jump in at the end to the great joy of the home crowd.
– Tommi Vaiho’s iron stoves! chanted the home fans throughout the end of Djurgården’s 2–4 loss against Sirius.
Even though it was just a loss, it was also goalkeeper profile Tommi Vaiho’s last home game in the Djurgårds jersey. Both he and Elliot Käck, who was not in the squad due to injury, therefore received a thank you after the final whistle where they did laps of honor around the pitch.
Before that, when the match was still going on, the supporters’ song had also been heard. For Vaiho entered the final minutes to a standing ovation.
– Maybe we wouldn’t have replaced him if it had been right and weighed. But if there was an opportunity to replace him, we felt it was time to replace him, says coach Thomas Lagerlöf at the press conference after the match.
However, the home crowd was not heard when they wildly gesticulated that Vaiho would join up on an offensive corner in added time.
Were you the ones who stopped him?
– I didn’t stop him anyway. Then I don’t know if anyone else from the bench gestured…
“Two incredibly nice guys”
Team captain Magnus Eriksson had only good things to say about the two loyal servants who were thanked.
– Fantastic Djurgårds ambassadors who meant a lot to this association. Two incredibly nice guys so they will be missed.

However, Eriksson and Djurgården did not manage to give them a nice parting gift.
Is it extra tough that you lose considering Vaiho’s and Käck’s withdrawal?
– Of course it is. We said before that we wanted to give them something nice and we didn’t manage to do that.
Mitov about the loss: “Misery”
Both Tommi Vaiho and Elliot Käck have also played for Sirius.
Sirius goalkeeper David Mitov Nilsson played with Tommi Vaiho last year when he was on loan to Sirius.
– Great person, great guy and great fun to have shared a dressing room with him. I wasn’t ready for him to be replaced. People were very happy and stood and applauded there too, says Mitov Nilsson.
A goalkeeper who ended up in the all the more unwanted focus earlier in the match. After all, it was a pretty solid board that caused Felix Vas and Djurgården’s 1-0 goal.

– It is my hundred percent. I feel sure that I will take it. Then the ball becomes a fucking soap and slips out of my bucket somehow… Then I manage to turn around and catch it before the line, but hit it on my own leg. You just feel: “Ah, misery, good David“. But it was just forgetting to move on. Easier to let go when we win 4-2.
Drove without his placard
But now you might be wondering – what did Tommi Vaiho himself feel about it all?
The assembled press corps never found out, as the down-to-earth goalkeeper profile slipped out of the arena without any journalist managing to note him (probably before the press conference ended).
He also left behind his placard.
– I will take it to Kaknäs, says the materialist Patrik Eklöf to Sportbladet, when he confirms about 1.5 hours after the final whistle that Tommi Vaiho has drawn without his gifts.
