Shot putter Tomáš Staněk recorded his season’s longest throw of 21.77 at the Star Throw in Domažlice. Quarter players Tereza Petržilková and Matěj Krska also did well.
Shot putter Tomáš Staněk showed great form before the upcoming World Championship. Right in the opening series, he sent his equipment to a distance of 21.77, thereby improving his own best Czech performance from Turnov this year by six centimeters. He also added three more attempts from far beyond 21 meters (21.42 – 21.41 – 21.14). Tomas won by more than two meters ahead of Pole Szymon Mazur (19.63).
Matěj Krsek and Tereza Petržilková tested their form in the 300m before Budapest. Krsek broke under 33 seconds for the first time in his career when he ran a new personal best of 32.89. The second Jakub Majerčák also achieved a very nice personal best when he managed the course in 33.28. Petržilková was also able to enjoy a new career high, which now has a value of 36.79, which is a performance that took her to fourth place in the Czech historical charts. Marcela Pírková finished second in 38.04.
The men’s 1000 meters race offered interesting times, where Filip Sasínek was the fastest in 2:19.67, followed at the finish by Jakub Davidík (2:21.89).
The javelin thrower competition was dominated by Pole Marcin Krukowski in 76.45 ahead of Hungarian Norbert Rivasz (76.34) and Martin Florian (74.16). The same women’s discipline was won by the British Bekah Halton with a long throw of 57.87.
Sprinters to Nassau, Kopecký over 8000
Our representative men’s 4×100 meter relay team had a successful performance in Uherské Hradiště. The team of Zdeněk Stromšík, Jan Veleba, Eduard Kubelík and Ondřej Macík ran a time of 38.84, thus fulfilling the nomination requirement of the Czech Athletic Association for the start at the World Relays, which will be hosted by Nassau, Bahamas, next year.
Ondřej Kopecký scored 8,074 points in the decathlon in Prague’s Eden, creating this year’s best Czech performance.
