Tomáš Kalas headed to Schalke after the end of his contract in the English second division Bristol. The 30-year-old Czech defender signed a two-year contract with the second Bundesliga club.
Recently, Kalas has struggled with repeated health problems, due to which he was dropped from the Czech national team, in which he has 31 starts and two goals. “After my time at Bristol City, I took time to consider where I could take the next step in my career and where I felt most comfortable. It’s a huge honor that Schalke approached me. I didn’t have to consider the offer for long and now I will do everything to help the club get back to where it belongs,” Kalas said.
Schalke was relegated from the top league last season and the start of the new season of the second Bundesliga did not go well for him. From the opening four rounds, the team from Gelsenkirchen with famous fans won only three points and is crouching at the bottom of the table.
