With more than 10,500 followers on Instagram, Tom Ymani is a singer from Rochefort who is starting out in music. This non-binary artist raises awareness and advocates self-acceptance in his pop-toned songs.
Since Tom Ymani saw Madonna enter the stage in 2006, he has never dreamed of one day finding himself in her place, on stage. 4 years ago, he started singing. The 20-year-old young artist draws his inspiration from big names in pop like Lady Gaga and Angèle. And it is in his room in Rochefort that he composes, writes and assembles.
First I invent the melodies, then I put my voice on them using a microphone that I have in my room. After having made several tests, once I like the result, I will record it in a professional studio in Durbuy, Brussels or Paris.
Music to encourage people to take full responsibility for themselves
Tom Ymani composed four titles, three of which are available on his Youtube channel. Self-acceptance, love, homosexuality and bisexuality, these themes are addressed in his songs. Talking about it is particularly close to the non-binary artist’s heart.
Music is another way of expressing myself, of saying what I feel and what I think. Through my songs, I try to encourage people to be themselves.
A first success for the artist
Recently, “There is holding me back”, one of his songs, was broadcast on LN Radio, a national radio station. It was a great pride for the singer.
I would like to have a musical career and maybe have the opportunity to create shows like Madonna or Beyonce.
New singles are expected to be released soon. If success is achieved, Tom Ymani would like to compile them into an EP.
