This disturbing story dates back to the 1960s, but Tom Jones remembers it well. The Welsh singer had gone to a barbecue in Acapulco, a place widely frequented by celebs at the time, when he wanted to go swimming alone. But after a few strokes, the interpreter of Sexbomb found himself against the grain. “I swam upstream but hadn’t moved an inch. I said to myself, “Your time has come”, ”he recounted during a stint on the podcast.

“I used to always bag my jewelry and for some reason I hadn’t. I put my hand on my chest and I still had this cross on the end of a chain. So I said, “God, I’m desperate. What do I do ?” I was going to give up. I thought I was going to drink the cup and say goodnight. And a voice came up to me and said, “If you believe you can swim, then now is the time to prove it,” the singer added. Delilah.
And sharks
Tom Jones then took his courage in both hands and swam with all his might to reach the shore. Soon caught in the waves, all was not won, since he still risked being violently thrown by a roller and “breaking his neck”. But in the end, the ocean spat it out safe and sound on the beach.
Deeming himself already miraculous, Tom Jones was all the more stunned when, later, he was told that the area where he had gone swimming was heavily frequented by sharks.
