Tom Hollander got the Tom Holland bonus by mistake. “An astounding sum of money”

– I get confused with him all the time – admitted British actor Tom Hollander when asked if he was sometimes mistaken for his younger colleague, Tom Holland. While appearing on Late Night with Seth, Meyers revealed that in the past, the similarity of both actors’ names even led to him mistakenly receiving part of Tom Holland’s remuneration. “It was an astonishing amount of money,” Hollander admitted.

Tom Hollander, British actor known, among others, from roles in “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Pride and Prejudice” and the series “The White Lotus”, he was a guest on Monday’s episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers. At one point, his conversation with the host turned to the similarity of his name and surname with the personalities of another British actor, Tom Holland, known for the role of Spider-Man.

– This is very difficult for me. Because, you know, I was here first, but he is extremely famous, said Hollander jokingly, adding that he “gets confused with him all the time.” – It happens to me that I am introduced to children who are initially very excited and then confused and disappointed – said the actor, describing the disappointment he observes on the faces of young people expecting to meet “Spider-Man”.

Tom Hollander admitted that on one occasion the similarity of names and surnames even led to him receiving remuneration intended for Tom Hollander. – For a short moment we belonged to the same (acting) agency – he began the story. – One day I went to a performance of my friend who played in one of the English theaters. He was earning £300 a week but was doing great. I have just finished making a program for the BBC, for which I received about 30,000. This was going to sustain me for another year. So I sat in the theater audience satisfied, he continued.

– Then the break started (in the show – ed.) and I thought I would check my e-mail – he said. It was then that Hollander read a message intended for Tom Holland, confirming payment of a bonus for appearing in one of the “Avengers” films. “It was an astonishing amount of money,” he admitted, emphasizing that “it wasn’t even (Holland’s) entire paycheck, but only part of the bonus” received by the twenty-something actor.

– It was more than I have ever seen, we are talking about a seven-figure amount – he added. – My sense of contentment that I mentioned earlier disappeared very quickly – he concluded jokingly.
