A back flip to impress Chris Evans
In a new interview published by Sony himself, Kevin Feige recalled the casting of Tom Holland. While the young man was only 19 years old, he impressed Chris Evans with an improvised somersault. Proof that the role was made for him!
We brought in 5 actors and asked them to do readings with Robert Downey Jr. He’s always so nice, especially to the other actors, he gives of his time. This reading allowed us to reduce the number of candidates and then we did one with Chris Evans. It was obvious that Tom Holland was not only an awesome Peter Parker, but also an awesome Spider-Man. Because he had both the abilities of a great actor and those of a great gymnast, stuntman, it was an added bonus to wow. I still remember he did a somersault in front of Chris Evans who couldn’t believe what he had just seen.
